Collection consists chiefly of Ficklen's essays, poems, rejection slips, and humorous articles. There is also correspondence with Frank A. Munsey re: Ficklen's employment by "Munsey's Magazine"; and with John Kendrick Bangs re: articles by Ficklen to appear in "Life." Also include letter, 1887 Nov 5, Harrison Robertson Jr. to Ficklen re: the Miller Manual School and mentioning Capt. Charles Erastus Vawter; letter, 1929 April 22, Ficklen to J.B. Cranfill, editor of "The Advance," re: the disputed authorship of the poem, "The drunkard's lament" and crediting the work to Richard W. Lyle. In addition there is correspondence, 1860-1870, of John F. Ficklen re: financial matters pertaining to Peter Lucas.
